The University Library at campus Ullandhaug is located in Kjølv Egelands hus, and is open for students and employees around the clock. You need your student-/employee card to access the Library when the rest of the building is closed (from 6 pm on weekdays and 5 pm on Saturdays).

You can find information about new science and technology books in the library, LaTeX and how to search for literature by clicking the menu bar above. You can of course also contact us if you have any questions. 

The University Library has a lot to offer the students at UiS:

  • Relevant and updated literature (books, e-books, journal articles, ...) no matter what academic field you study. Use Oria to search our resources. If we don't have it ourselves, we will get it for you, contact
  • The Study Lab - book an appointment with a mentor to help you improve your academic writing skills. The Study Lab also offers classes in academic writing. 
  • The Data Lab - join one of our workshops and learn powerful softwares for analyzing and vizualising like NVivo, SPSS, Adobe InDesign and Tableau. 
  • Join one of our courses - learn reference management softwares like EndNote and Zotero, or learn how to cite sources manually. You can also learn how to write your thesis i LaTeX, as an alternative to Word
  • The podcast about academic writing - learn more about the student role and academic writing while you make dinner, vacuum, exercise - basically anytime you like! Fifteen Norwegian episodes (10-15 minutes per episode) are available, English episodes are coming soon!
  • Borrow a LibrarianIf you are a master student, PhD or scientific staff and are about to write a paper or are start a research project, you can borrow a librarian.
  • The 3D-lab - open to all students who participates in an introduction with one of the staff. 
  • A lot of different places to read and work, from the quiet zone downstairs to the steam punk-inspired Data Lab, from the nature surroundings in the Study Lab to the old-timey Library feeling in Kongsgårdsalongen. Check out the pictures at the bottom of the page and come visit us!
